Local guy near me has this triumph 1200 tro phy for sale for well under 2 grand. The side fairings are cracked and the luggage is scraped (I’m guessing it had a fall at some point) but the price is right. I might be picking it up as a birthday present from me to me. I really want to turn it into a gentleman’s cafe racer. Chop down the windscreen, tidy up the nose, remove the luggage rack and make it a comfy solo seat, and then go full off-road explorer mode on the KLR.

dude you could make that front nost/fairing look so cool by taking the windscreen down a bit. Definitely would be a unique bike DOOOOO IT

Th at’s the plan - use the bits that connect up on the light to clean up the front end, cut down the windscreen (or get a small one) and use the other bits of the fairing to make an undertray piece. I saw this bike and I got inspired:

Yep, Speed-Triple-esque that Trophy tourer.

maybe use the dual-round headlights from the T509/955i Speed Triple, with a fly-screen... it will keep the dual headlight setup from the Trophy fairing.

T3-series Triumps, with the Spine frame, have real potential, especially with Thunderbird and cafe-racer style parts. (a T5-series single-sided swing arm wold not go amiss, though, too..)

I’m aiming for a build and buy under 2000$ so it won’t be too extreme but we’ll see what I can come up with....Probably won’t do a single sided swingarm or something but I might put on some refreshed suspension and brakes if they’re worn and stuff. Should be good fun. Seller emailed me back and I’m hopefully going for a ride tomorrow.

Should be doable for that much.

remove luggage racks and rear pegs , T3-series used aftermarket single seat, used/salvage Speed Triple headlight unit and frame stay attachment, and fly screen. used Thunderbird, Sprint, or other smaller front mudguard... shorter slip-on exhaust cans...

good to go.
